HAWAII CHAPTER - MAY 2012 NEWSLETTER

  • Have you ever attended an IAAP Spring Conference?  This year it was held in Las Vegas and Bernice Fujiwara makes sure it doesn’t “stay in Vegas” by sharing highlights from one of the speakers – Bonnie Curtis.  Bonnie was an assistant to director Steven Spielberg and you’ll enjoy reading the lesson learned during a search for a script!
  • The Nominating Committee presents candidate bios for the 2012-2013 slate of officers.  Be sure to review them as voting will be held at the May Membership Meeting – which is also our Annual Meeting – on May 24.
  • Two great events took place during APW week.  Recaps and photos from our chapter meeting, as well as the division potluck picnic, are in this issue.  Want to see even more photos?  Check out our chapter’s website (www.iaap-hawaiichapter.org) for a terrific slideshow by Faith Kanno.  Once you log in, the slideshow will appear on the homepage.

HAWAII CHAPTER -
APRIL 2012 NEWSLETTER
  • In her front page article, Corinne Bauske, CAP-OM, tells us all about APW . . . she previews our upcoming chapter APW event, gives us a little history lesson on how it all started, and quotes some interesting statistics on the profile of the admin of today.
  • It’s nomination time and Bernice Fujiwara, CAP-OM, provides the current slate of chapter officer nominations.  There’s still a Co-VP slot open so if you are interested in working on your leadership skills, contact Bernice.
  • Did you attend the March chapter meeting on ergonomics in the workplace?  Faith Kanno recaps the evening and includes a list of simple things you can do to organize your work area to increase efficiency and reduce the risk of strain.  Although not mentioned in the GSN, members can go to our chapter website (www.iaap-hawaiichapter.org) for a short but fun slideshow from that evening – just log in and the slideshow will appear on the Home Page.  A big Mahalo to Faith for putting that together!
  • The deadline to submit your Member of Excellence form is coming up.  See my article for a link to the IAAP HQ site where you can find all the appropriate info and forms.

Previous GSNs are archived in the Members Only tab.
